What is "Shift?"
"Shift" is the working title for an SNES era-like RPG project I am starting development on. I am currently in the Writing/Asset Creation phase and will post general updates as the project progresses.
So what's it about?
after floating in the space between dimensions for an unknown amount of time a man given the designation JRm14 is recovered by a group of dimension faring scientists running from an unknown entity. When said entity attacks the ship and the entire crew goes missing, JRm14 joins forces with the ships AI known as MUSE to traverse dimensions looking for a suitable one to survive in while also running from the tragedies that follow in their wake.
the game covers many themes such as Existentialism, Found family and the complicated relationships between siblings.

and Jay
Characters!!
In this section I will go over a few of the characters, concept art and sprites as well as a little blurb about their stories, personalities and worlds.
Jay
JRM14 Otherwise Known as J (Jay), is our protagonist. Discovered drifting in the fluid void between dimensions, known as the "Gap" or "Way", Jay was taken aboard the 'Wayship' by a group of scientists for study.
When the crew members begin to disappear one by one, the ship's AI, MUSE awakens Jay and recruits him and his strange ability to switch between planes of existence to escape to a safe location
MUSE
MUSE (or Muse) is the onboard AI of the Wayship. Her mysterious properties allow her to control the angle and trajectory of the shift.
Is she trustworthy?
Eielyn
Eielyn is an young boy in a strange world where everyone seems to only have one big eye.
Eielyn takes care of his brother as they await their parents return. They left to find the reason all the water dried up, but they're not coming back, are they? And his little brother has grown weak and sick, what will he do?
Fynn
"The Sleeping Prince" first mistaken by Muse to be a porcelain doll, Fynn is actually a prince!! In the strange dimension shaped like an hourglass, Fynn sleeps at the very top upon a marble slab. Mischievous and a bit of a prankster, he causes chaos when he wakes. A strange woman seems to be chasing them. Is there a reason he's supposed to be sleeping?
What happens if he stays awake for too long, and if he lies at the top, then what's at the bottom?
